rdesktop tunneling through SSH

As an example i will set up a RDP through SSH connection to idun.mathematik.hu-berlin where you require an account.

connection data

RDP target: idun.mathematik.hu-berlin.de:3389
SSH server: ssh.mathematik.hu-berlin.de
Login server: LOCALMATH

Linux

requirements: package rdesktop

ssh -l username -C -L 9999:idun.mathematik.hu-berlin.de:3389 ssh.mathematik.hu-berlin.de
in a new terminal: rdesktop -f localhost:9999

Windows

Get yourself putty and edit in Connection -> SSH -> Tunnels

Now press Add and change to Session where you input the SSH server (ssh.mathematik.hu-berlin.de) and select protocol SSH. If you want to, you can save it. Now press open and you are nearly done.

Start up remote Desktop located in Utilities -> Communication in your startmenu and input localhost:9999 .
