ANNOUNCEMENT OF A RESEARCH POSITION

in the DFG research project Net based software development (NSE) of Prof. Weber within the
»DFG-Forschergruppe Petrinetz-Technologie«
The primary goal of the research group is the investigation and classification of methods and tools for Petri nets, to simplify the industrial applications of Petri nets. In the second phase of the program we focus on timed Petri nets and their use in workflow management. This covers workflow modeling, analysis of modeled processes and possibilities to support the workflow execution. Petri nets allow visualizations and formal descriptions of workflows and permit their early evaluation by simulation. They provide possibilities to check the workflow model for certain properties and can be used as a base for the workflow execution.

We are searching for a motivated person interested in the above topics, which should match the following profile:

  1. German Diploma or Master degree in computer science, or a related field
  2. Experience in one of the following research areas:
       - Petri nets
       - process modeling
       - distributed and parallel systems
  1. Experience in designing and implementing software
  2. Interested in working together in a team with researchers from different universities.
Knowledge of the German language is desirable but not mandatory.

We offer a nice working atmosphere in the middle of Berlin.
If the candidate holds a university diploma or M.Sc. complying with German regulations, PhD preparation is possible.
No teaching will be required.

The position is funded until end of March 2001, with prolongation possibility of one more year.

Applications should include a curriculum vitae, a statement of current research interests, reprints of relevant publications (if available) and the names of two referees. Applications should preferably be sent by e-mail to Prof. Dr. H. Weber,
