I am a PostDoc in the group Knowledge Management in Bioinformatics of Prof. Dr. Ulf Leser, at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin. I obtained a PhD degree for my work on Semantic Web reasoning techniques at Hamburg University of Technology in 2011, under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Ralf Möller. Previously, I earned a Master of Science degree in Computational Logic from Technical University Dresden in 2006, under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Horst Reichel.
My work is broadly in the area of big data storage, management, and retrieval. Particularly, my interests are in indexing and searching streams and compressing large scientific datasets. This research is published in venues such as PVLDB, IEEE TCBB, IEEE ITS, and SIGMOD Rec.
I am an active reviewer for several SCI journals (e.g. Nat Biotechnol, IEEE TKDE, and IEEE TCBB), high-rated conferences (e.g. AAAI, ICDE, and SSDBM), and organizations (e.g. DFG and A*STAR). During the last 10 years, I have been passionately involved in teaching computer science courses, for instance, on database systems, Semantic Web, and general game playing.
